Sawyer County prosecutors last week dismissed charges of intoxicated homicide against a 29-year-old Hayward woman, Gina M. Trepanier, on grounds that it could not be proven that her car struck the deceased person.

In September 2009 prosecutors filed charges against Trepanier of homicide by intoxicated driving and homicide by driving with a prohibited blood alcohol concentration (PAC) in an Aug. 2, 2009 incident in which a 47-year-old LCO reservation resident, Cynthia M. Gordon, was killed. According to initial reports, Gordon was walking on Highway K near Drifter’s Bar and Scipio Avenue in Northwoods Beach when she was struck by a vehicle at 2:32 a.m. She was transported by ambulance to the Hayward hospital, where she died from multiple traumatic external and internal injuries.
