Local man faces federal charge of steroid possession
A federal grand jury for the Western District of Wisconsin returned an indictment Thursday Sept. 2 charging Michael Wozny, 32, of Hayward with possessing an anabolic steroid with intent to distribute. The indictment alleges that Wozny possessed the drug on Nov. 1, 2007.
Trial in Radisson stabbing postponed
The Sawyer County jury trial of Austin Davis, 16, of Ojibwa, who is accused of being party to first-degree intentional homicide and burglary in the stabbing death of 93-year-old Irena Roszak of Radisson on May 3, 2009, has been postponed from Sept. 14-17 to Oct. 25-29.
Round Lake Narrows dredged to improve navigation
Silt, muck and floating vegetation that has hindered navigation through the Round Lake Narrows between Big and Little Round lakes for the past several years was dredged out by large cranes and by hand labor in a nine-day project that concluded Tuesday, Aug. 31.
Aircraft reports smoke in cockpit, lands safely here
The pilot of a single-engine airplane landed his aircraft safely around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 1 at the Sawyer County Airport after radioing the airport that he was experiencing smoke in the cockpit.
