I am a teacher and coach at Hayward High School, and I have to throw a big “Kudos!” to the staff of the Weiss Community Library and their director, Molly Lank-Jones. My American literature students are in the midst of an ambitious book club project that required six copies each of five different novels, and Molly was able to round them up from surrounding libraries in just a few days. When I needed nine books in a big hurry for a forensics group, her staff was able to put them together for me in a morning and have them waiting for me to pick up on my lunch break.
I’m sure everyone knows that we have a beautiful library (and surrounding wetland nature park) on Highway 77, but you can’t possibly know how many amazing features and services our library provides until you have spent some time there. If you can’t get there in person, check out their website at weisscommunitylibrary.com. I guarantee there is something Hayward’s outstanding library and its staff can do for you, your family, your class or your business.

Kudos to the Record for giving us a heads up on the program “Hotel Showdown” on the Travel Channel, and congratulations to Jeff Miller on winning that showdown. What a fun hour of entertainment, watching the “hometown guy” finish first. Even before you saw the program, you knew Mr. Miller’s businesses are truly winners if you’ve stopped by the dairy (peanut butter chocolate, anyone?) and/or experienced McCormick House. What a great addition he and his businesses are to our community!
